Dear Dutch foss community,
A friend and I are attending GUADEC this year, but we have plane tickets to fly into Amsterdam on the 24th of July. The problem? GUADEC isn’t until the 26th! Neither of us have ever been to Holland, and while 2 days is certainly not enough time to enjoy Amsterdam, we want to try. If anyone has a bed/couch/floor/stable/etc. that the two of us could sleep in/on/under the night of the 24th we’d be super appreciative, and of course you’d always have a place to stay wherever it is that I’m living when you need a place to stay (at the moment Philadelphia- a really great town if you want to come visit, seriously Philly rules!).
Of course we’ll take you out, or cook you a nice dinner in return for your hospitality, and promise not to make a mess.

Don’t be a racist bruce. Confining people from any one ethnicity or national origin is not cool. Why would you condone the establishment of a “Dutch Floor”? Dutch people, like anyone, should be allowed to live on whatever floor they like…
Have you ever slept on a dutch floor? It’s heaven. No one makes a floor like the dutch. I think it has something to do with their clogs.
Just make sure the dutch floor isn’t at a dutch angle. That wouldn’t be a dutch treat.
Have you tried couchsurfing.org? Last time I went to Amsterdam, I made a profile on couchsurfing, messaged some people, and had an absolutely amazing time. Then a month later, I did it again with different people, and yet again, an amazing time. I highly recommend it.

I tried couchsurfing but haven’t gotten any replies! I’m trying to cover all of my bases. I’ll continue to try couchsurfing, but I figured a call for help couldn’t hurt. It helped massively last time I did it.

If you want you could stay at our place. We live in Diemen which is not Amsterdam proper, but only a 20 minute tram (or bike) ride from the centre of Amsterdam.
I’d also have to check with my wife but don’t anticipate problems there. And you could have found me on hospitalityclub.org which is basically the same thing as couchsurfing, in case you are looking for other options.
